The first scholarship was awarded to a Georgia Tech senior interested in pursuing project management studies, a field with increasing role across all industries.
The Atlanta chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading professional membership organization for project managers, has awarded its first scholarship to a Georgia Tech student.
Senior Natalie Joseph received a $2,000 award to assist her as she earns her degree. Joseph is a computer science major and co-president of Project Management at Georgia Tech, a student-run organization that helps students build professional networks and prepare for roles across various spaces.
The recognition is awarded to students interested in pursuing project management studies — a field that is playing an increasingly important role across industries ranging from technology to healthcare to business — and underscores the need for continuous learning as the workplace constantly evolves.
The College of Lifetime Learning currently supports the demand for project managers by offering several courses that help learners build practical skills they can immediately apply in the workplace while preparing for industry-recognized certifications.
Sarv Kohli, a project management executive who has served as an instructor for the College’s Agile Program Management course, noted the classes take workplace scenarios into consideration to ensure useful learning outcomes.
“By using the same real-world tools as industry leaders, our students move beyond theory to gain the practical fluency needed to lead global transformation in a world of constant change," he explained.
Project managers use durable skills like communication, problem-solving, and adaptability to encourage teams, unite stakeholders, and lead projects from start to finish. For students exploring the field, project management education can provide value that translates across organizations and careers.
